Hell is starting to freeze, time to SELL the cars

I spoke with Stephen Becker this morning to get a reaction to the Barrett-Jackson Auction results. He said tell the list this....

"Some of the cars brought in phenomenal money. It is time for Jon Lee to sell his cars so he can afford gas for the lawnmower. Also its time for Kenny who is retiring as a Shelby judge and never shows his car anyways to sell it too. Lime Green repaint cars are bringing in huge money now!"

"Sell them and come down to Florida and hang out with me in at the beach. My deck overlooks the ocean and the shell fish are steaming and the beer is cold."

NOTE: Don't shoot the messenger... :)

I was also amazed at the price that #1552 car brought in.
Here is the eBay ad with a buy it now price of 85K. Family cars has owned that car for a long time.

    Check this out...

    http://www.nvsaac.com/auctions/Ebay_2002/Ebay_67_500_1552/eBay Motors item 1854080792.htm

It only got to bids of $ 68,200.00 at Hot august night Silvers Auction in 2002.
Lot of issues with the car, but apparently doesn't matter a bit...

This is the car that sold for $ 442,800.00
    http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/bj06results.asp
    Lot # 1326

They have had the car for some time...
It is a Lime green repaint car.

It was up on eBay again and on there site listed at 185K prior to B/J auction.
    http://www.familyclassiccars.com/en_US/HomePage_1.chtml

It the most expensive car in their inventory.

Someone got too into the moment and the B/J boys did their job.

Interesting as I would of thought for 85k there would be a line to write a check for it. Something must not be correct here. The BJ link didn't work.

  3. well I do not belive I will take the advice to sell, of course I will not be
    buying either.

now for the beer and shellfish at the coast. that is always good advice that
    I am willing to take.

You can tell your "buddy" Stephen that he should be glad I won't sell my cars because if I did, Not only would I buy gas for my lawn mower but also buy a plane ticket to California just to watch
him get sued by Carroll over that no title car he has.

Im sure the scenic view there is nice too!

  6. Jim,

If you read the Snakebite you would know that there is a legal battle
concerning Shelby's convertible. If you were any friend to Stephen you
wouldn't be trying to extract additional information on a public forum
concerning what I am sure a painful subject.

Oh for pete's sake (sorry Pete!). Everyone knows this forum is half about
the cars, and half about the gossip, just like every other forum on the
internet. You should hear what they talk about on the Mopar forums...oh,
yeah, they talk about how much faster Shelbys are going up than Dusters.
And how that fellow in the desert is driving up the Cuda prices! Same talk,
    different location.

    Lifes for laughter,

    Dan

If it is a legal battle, then the info in the public domain is precisely
    that - public.

    Peter J. ,

Of Course I read the Snakebite.
In regards to the issue with Stephen & Carroll you must not have been on this list for very long or not paying attention. SAAC and Stephen are not affliliated. Stephen is not a member of SAAC. So, the Snakebite article is one sided.

Jon, Do you get all of your Shelby info from the Snakebite only?
Then I assume there is nothing for YOU to add to the subject.

    Jim

  10. Jim,

I've been around a while, long enough to know that you always do things for
a motive. I could go further but will wait for your response. Everyone knows
that Stephen is not affiliated with SAAC, but you are (at least you say you
are). The Snakebite statement I made, was asking you, if you read it. The
Snakebite statement was from Shelby, not an artical but a statement, and you
    know it.
All I think you are up to, especially after your private email to me, is to
    throw Stephen on the fire.
You know there is a legal problem with Stephen and Shelby but playing the
the expert on the situation without being specific only perks up peoples
curiosity, at Stephens expense. My suggestion would be to drop the subject.
    Peter J.

  11. May I suggest you make this a private argument?
I for one am not interested in hearing you two cut each other up on line.
This is a private argument. Keep it private.
Let's get back to discussing the important things.

  13. Vegas...dial up warning...big pic

Jim. I went last year. I am taking this year off...but I wish I were going. Attached is a photo of our 66 last year. next time I go, I am bringing one of our Saleen S351's.. Either that or upgrade the brakes on the 66. I found that the HP/brakes match for our 66 was way much in favor of the HP, and I had a very hard time hauling the speeds down in a comfortable way. I have grown use to the 13" Alcons on the Saleens and they are very tough to compete with feeling wise.

    Have a great time.

    Dan,

I missed Vegas last year. And the track looks like a pretty fast track.
I just completed a brake job and updated to an easier brake bias switch.

What do you have in the front of your car?
I am running Lincoln discs up front. Needed something bigger than stock up front.
    Rears are still Shelby drum.

Fronts and rear have cooling ducts.

How fast did you get 'Ol Blue running in those straightways?

That 1st at the end of the paddock comes up fast.
I'm sure the run off is well traveled there.

(Here is a link to the track)
    https://ss.shelbyamerican.com/saac/images/saac05-course.jpg

OK..I am ready to go driving!
There is nothing like driving these Shelby's fast.
    :)

    Jim

    Dan,

    Awesome.

At Vegas two years ago. Forrest Straight took out his then fresh Trans Am and I thought I was loud with my side exhaust. I gave him a point by and I couldn't even hear my own car! I am sure that is a new fun toy you have.

OK. Looking forward to the long straights. I can get to 140mph on the straights at Thunderhill Raceway (Willows, CA) , so this will be exciting to play somewhere new.

Maybe you can make it next time.

    Take care, Jim

Up front I run slotted rotors along with SSB blueprinted Kelsey Hayes Calipers. The engine just way overmatched my bias for the day and frankly, I forgot to adjust them.....I was so excited.

The back straight was my weak point. It has a kink that will take your breath away. I don't know my terminal velocity but I had the speedo at 130 more than once but I really had to break early........and that back straight got my FULL attention. I have a spare set of rotors and breaks as these are toast.

Enjoy yourself. We had terrible weather bit that won't be duplicated this year.

    All the best.

    Dan

P.S. Oh, a pic of the new toy. An amazing 1969 Boss 302. One o a couple of cars with a 1968 siamese trans am racing block. A thrill to drive. This may be the nicest Mustang I have yet to own. Well, nicest old Mustang!

OK..I am ready to go driving!
There is nothing like driving these Shelby's fast.
    :)

    Jim

    Dan
