Canadian Dreaming of a Shelby

Joe what part of Canada are you from I'm in Alberta . Any particular year you are looking for.Probably alot more Shelby's in Canada today than were sold here new.

 

Are you from Windsor Joe? As far as finding one goes, heck there could be one in the garage down the block that has been sitting since 1972 that you could get for 1500. Driven by the house 1000 times and never saw the door open. If you have the bucks there is usually one for sale. There is around 8 or 9 just in the Windsor area.

 

In the not so long ago deals were easy to come by. Today, almost everyone knows what they are worth. Worse yet the person that does pick it up for a deal ends up flipping it to make the kill. It is a business not a hobby which means big money. Dingwall Ford in Windsor was a performance dealer and they had tons of muscle cars come in. I've talked to guys that worked there and the stories they would tell me about new cars coming in. For fun go to the liabrary and look at the old newspapers and read some of the ads from the 60's. The dealers would advertise what was coming in. I purchased my KR from the original owner and Dingwall was the original dealer. Toward the end of the Boss 429 run a bunch were sent to Canada through Windsor. If you can't afford the real deal then why not build a replica? As long as you don't try to pass it off as a real one it would be tons of fun. I can't afford a original Cobra so I built a FactoryFive. One of the best automotive decisions I made.

 

I know of about 6 here on Vancouver Island. I got mine a few years back by just putting the word out that I was looking for one. A guy from Toronto tracked me down just last week wanting to know if I was interested in selling. I will let you know if anything is available.

 

The first car on this page[a real wrecked shell] just sold for $40,000. I saw it about three weeks ago. There wasn't anything left on it that could be removed. Not even a nut bolt or screw. Yet there are complete cars needing minor restoration that can be bought for under $140,000. It just doesn't make sense. But what does these days.

I did a count a few years ago and came up with 103 67 shelbys imported to Canada. I have one of two white 67 GT 350's sold new in Canada.
When I get more time. I will do the other years count.

Hi Joe...unable to answer your question however some info for you...I reside in New-Zealand and own a 70 GT500 that was sold new by "Healy Ford" ,Banff, Canada...car has been here since 72....
