    I am Located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have a 2002 Shelby Tribute Edition Mustang, and I love to bug the guys at Shelby. Anyone going to SAAC Does Vegas-9. :whistle:

    Very nice car. I wasn't aware of an '02 Shelby Tribute Edition. Hey, can you bug the guys @ Shelby American about what's happening, if anything, with an '05 Shelby?

    They have a 2005 GT in there shop, along with the Cobras. From what I am hearing, once they are done with the Expedition, they will start on the GT350 or GT500, some time in 2006. Also who will get the Cobra name. SVT Ford or Shelby?

    Thanks for that very encouragung news. After waiting for 40 years, one more shouldn't be too tough. In getting your '02, did you go directly to Shelby American or work with a dealer? :dance:

    This is from Mustang F/X. Mustang F/X along with Unique Performance and Ford are the only companies authorized by Shelby to produce owner installed or complete turn key cars. I had several local shops including C P Motorsports here in Las Vegas install the kit. C P Motorsports is owned by Craig and Phil, both worked on the Shelby Series 1 Car Project. They opened up there shop down the road from Shelby at the Las Vegas Speedway. There is a short Biography on Mustang F/X in this months Mustang Monthly Magazine, under 40 Years of Shelby. There are only 50 Tribute Edition Shelby's authorized to be built, at this time my car is #02, Shelby Chassis #2S002. This is documented under the Mustang F/X Tribute Edition Registry.

    Tell me more about the Shelby Dodge History. What was built, and what years.

    Thanks for the details on your '02. It sounds like you're in the perfect area for Shelby upgrades & info. I think I'll go to my dealer first as soon as I hear that an '05/6 Shelby product is in the pipeline; and then go from there if they are clueless. I did read the piece on Mustang F/X but didn't focus on it because of its location. My knowledge of the Shelby/Dodge products is sparse. As I recall, the Omni bodied GLHS was a pretty hot sleeper and the Shelby Daytona was a kidney shaker but no faster than a turbo Lazer. Both were reasonably priced but not Fords; therefore I was not interested. I'm elated that 'the man' is again working w/ Ford.

    And I would love to see the Legend do some work with Dodge again. How about a GLHS version of the Neon? Or better yet a CSX version of the Stratus coupe with a stage III SRT turbo engine!

    I'll probably have to build that one myself.

    Your Neon & Stratus ideas sound very interesting; but I bet contractural limitatins do not allow 'the legend' to work w/ two manufacturers at the same time.

    Thanks Dan, I attended a Viper Car Show this summer. One of the owners told me that Carroll was part of the Dodge skunkworks when the Viper was developed. Several others said no. What a history from Ford to Dodge back to Ford. Also how many Shelby Dodge Durango's were developed. Take care, Mark

    He was involved in the development of the Viper. The original prototype was developed by Shelby. Carroll was trying to make a new car, got started, needed more funding and looked to each of the big 3 for a partnership. Dodge joined the project, took it more in their direction (Carroll wanted a much lighter final product) and eventually finished with a much smaller degree of influence from Carroll because his health was rapidly deteriorating and he was desperately in need a heart transplant. He eventually got the transplant and helped Dodge promote the new car. He also represented Dodge and the new Viper by driving a Viper pace car the following year in the Indy 500. Not bad for a new heart transplant recipient!

    Thanks for the reply. We had our Mustang Club meeting tonight, the Viper Club has their meeting next to us. After your post I discussed the Shelby History with the VIPER Club. Several of their members are checking the VIPER History Books. Stay tuned until next month.
