A few friends and I were at the auction on Saturday, ran into Bill Collins at his booth, he had three cars there, a 1965,1966 and a 1967,all were just ok, not really restored, price for the 65 was a staggering 225,000.00.We also saw a 1968 GT500 KR, needed most of the hard to find pieces, it looked as if a lot of the cars were a no sale on the block as sellers wanted top dollar, a nice 1969 Mach 1 , SCJ , auto car was a no sale at 105,000.00, owner was firm on 125,000.00. I saw a Boss 429 go to the block, but didn't see if it sold.

Those prices are really not out of range - I just bought two 1968 Shelbys, out of a barn, last weekend, and just got one of them running. Neither car had run since 1978. Both are # 3 condition "barn cars" but one is a GT 350 CV in very rare black and the other is a GT 500KR FB in very rare yellow. Right now, a # 3 condition Shelby is a car that all some guys can afford! Its gets their foot in the door on a Shelby without taking off their leg!!

Yes, Dominic and his wife walked by, Steve was not there at that time.

Steven, given the times, what would a #3 1965 go for today?

Not in Atlantic City, the car had no real interest at the 225,000.00 price, not that someone with an open check book won't at some point down the road or in another town.

Atlantic City auction never brings the kind of money that the west coast ones do---the 65 that Collins had was completley restored about 2 years ago and has been driven very little----I think the price was right on the money--

It was my old car---I did the majority of it and then sold it and then it was finished by others---it is a pretty good car---I saw the BJ and Russo 300k ones--

    Skee,
How much of a jump in price did this car go from when you sold it? And about how much did the new owner have to finish?

    Dan & Skee,

Thanks for the information, the 1965 Shelby was just ok to me, I've seen a few cars that were just nicer ,as a restored car has it won anything as in the way of MCA or SAAC shows? The 165,000.00 is where I would stop on this car, the 225,000.00 is because of the BJ fever.
