Ok, we're getting close to actually starting #1212 for the first time in oh, say...20 years! Anyway, a couple of questions:

    1. The center headlights, do they come on when you hit the high beam switch or is there a separate switch?

    2. The carbs...do they work as a pair or does one open before the other?

    Thanks!

On mine - I have inboard lights and they come on when you hit the high beam switch on the floor. The dual quad carbs (BJ and BK) use a progressive linkage so the front carb opens first for just off idle and then the linkage progressively opens both so that both carbs reach WOT together.

Your high beams come on when depressing the foot switch so all 4 lights should be on. I've got a wussy GT350, so I've only got one carb, but would assume it should operate one, and when you "shower down", the other becomes operational thru the linkage set up, but that's a guess.

If you need pictures of the linkage let me know and I'll post some pictures.

A common problem with the 67 Shelby headlights is the
bi-metal circuit breaker in the switch. Mustangs were
made with only one pair of lights and consequently have a switch
that matches. Shelby 67's use two pairs of headlights
which draw too much current for the standard switch.
I was driving my 67 in Sweden late at night and it was completely
dark outside and the lights went off and then came back on after
a couple of seconds. Changed from high beam to low and was able
to drive that way home. Solved the problem by changing the switch to
a full size Ford unit with two pairs of headlights. Had to move the old
bracket on to the new switch but the problem disappeared.
Just a tip if it happens to you.
