    Hey

I want to keep my '87 CSX, but just can't afford the insurance, and I really don't want to leave it out in the college parking lot to let who knows knows what happen to it. So I need a daily driver, but I don't want to give up on my Shelby. So the idea of collectors insurance occured to me, but I don't know if my car qualifies. I live in PA, which lets you get classic plates at 20 yrs, I think. I don't know if this is makes a difference, but I figured letting you guys know that couldn't hurt.

Also, what are good collectors insurance companies?

    thanks

Are you using your CSX as a daily driver or do you have another car?

Typically, a collectors auto policy would be for cars which are used primarily for events (ie parades, car shows, club events). I have my 89 CSX on a collectors policy so you would also be able to obtain similar coverage. But the expected usage is what governs what type of policy you would qualify for.

I am an insurance agent here in NY BUT the vehicle has to be over 20yrs for Collector Insurance (otherwise can be rated as "exotic" vehicle) and ONLY if you have another vehicle as a daily driver ..Try Haggerty.com or local indepedent agent Better have a clean driving record!!

Here in Pa, you can get a "Collectible" tag which is a cool plate. To get collector insurance rates, you must prove that the car is not driven to work and that you have another insured and registered Primary use vehicle. I use Parrish Heacock insurance. Grundy is another one you can try. where are you at in Pa.?

Yes, I knew there wouldbe milage limits, so i am looking for a daily driver, something with cup holders and power everything, lol. Thanks for the advice everyone, Ill see about the collectible plate, does that in and of its self have any restrictions, (age of car, milage, price of car).

O yea, I am in the Bethlehem area dave.

you may already have an insurance by now. but still, some tips, along the same lines: do not get any moving violation tickets. Many insurance companies reward "good drivers", with good records. Stop at stops, no illegal turns, don't speed.

Make certain you get a reduced rate for the safety and anti-theft inclusions on your car's policy.
