I'm new to your sight and in hopes of having the real deal ! I purchased a 68 fastback in 2001 and never checked the #'s. It has no shelby markings and the horn button is missing, I ordered a Year One catalog so I could start making my wish list for part's. I found the V.I.N. decode page and it say's I have a Shelby. could this be I've found e jewel in my own back yard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My V.I.N. # is 8R02J109325 Has anyone heard of a Shelby with no markings and a 68 with a regular hood? The car doesn't look like it's been in a wreck or repainted. Thank's Ken p. from Tempe
What on your vin makes you think its a Shelby? Did you check it with a marti report? There is also a 5 digit shelby number which you would find on your front left finder under the hood. Is there a build sheet? Mine has the ford vin on it but on the bottom it says Shelby unit Regaurds Dave
Ken, All 68 Shelbys were produced in Metuchen, NJ and should have the engine code T and not R (San Jose') as in your serial number. Also, the lowest Ford number used by Shelby is 115XXX series but as said above, the R gives it away immediately. You have a San Jose' built Mustang with the 230 HP 302 engine. Sorry, would have loved to give you better news. /Texas Swede
Thank's Dave and Tex In the Year One cat they had the letter "j" only shown in the Shelby for 1968 listing. I had my hopes up!! do all Mustangs have a tag or stamped #'s on the left fender? where can I find the Marti or SAAC web sights? Thanks Ken
http://www.martiauto.com/ Here is the route to get a marti-report. It will tell you everything about your car.
