Import Cruising

Well guys and gals,

I have a story to tell you. Its now 11:30 pm and I just got back from a car cruise with a bunch of imports. I was the only Shelby guy there. You should have seen it, I had all the babes looking at
me and all the guys just freaking out over the car. I went throught the parking lot twice while reving my motor several times and I laughed because I could see all the heads looking towards me and
the Shelby. It was great!!!

Anyway, I headed back home behind two Hondas. It seems that they were racing and someone got pissed off. When we came to a street light, one of the guys jumped out of his Honda and pulled his t-
shirt off flexing his muscles and yelling at the other guy. Next thing I know, both guys were yelling back and forth and one was about to cross my path to come closer with the other guy. Well...my
instinct told me- forget this shit... its too late so I revved my 427 motor and lunged my car several times to let the guys know I wasnt going to let them cross my path to fight. You should have
seen it. They were yelling in the middle of the intersection with cars behind me and raising their fists and screaming. I showed them whats up with my FE motor. When I revved it, It was so loud it
drounded their yelling and they couldnt hear each other. Plus, they tried to walk in front of me to fight and I wasnt going to let them because my Shelby moved forward to block them and letting them
know that if they crossed the Shelby, they would get run over. It was great...they got back in their cars and took off .

What a night!!!! I never thought a Shelby could be used to stop a highscool fist fight... Amazing what the power of a Cobra can do!!!!

Interesting story.
Thinking back, you are probably very fortunate one or both of them didn't
have a gun and make you and your Shelby a footnote in history.
I think I might have used the FE's power to get the heck out of there and
let them do whatever they were intent on doing to each other.

Im one of those guys that can't sit around and play it safe all the time. Life is full of shit. You just have to learn to go around it.

Personally, it wouldn't be any different than going to the US Post office and someone start shooting or driving your car and someone run into you.

"Got to live for something or die for nothing" is what I believe.

Now here is a thought. What if I did let them fight and just drove away. I would be haunted by seeing them on news about one of those kids dead from a fight. It would bother me if I knew that I
could have done something but refused to do so just to be safe.

Good story......
However it definitley depends on where you live that would determine the
response or outcome to a similar situation.
For example, having grown up street racing here in New York City, I have seen
my share of fights during races, whether it was light to light, or we shut
down the street for a 1/4 mile run. I have seen some bad sh*t which turned ugly
like knives being drawn and guns being fired.

Glad you and your car came away in one piece.

I'm with you, Dude! A few years ago, my wife and my step-son went to a
movie. While walking in from the parking lot, we saw a couple of punks
harrassing a guy and his pregnant wife. My stepson took out one and I
immobilized the other, slamming his face down on the hood of a car and
applying a nice, tight hammerlock. The harrassed guy was very much
appreciative. Turns out he didn't want to start something by himself with
his wife nearby, afraid that she would get hurt in the process.
The punks were harrassing him because he was a Sheriff's Deputy who had
recently put them in jail. Thanks to us, they went right back in the tank.
I shudder to think what might have happened if we hadn't stepped up to the
occasion.

some sort of personal security ? My wife isn't pregnant, but if I continue
to visit
the buffets of Vegas, I will have the look.

Seen my share of people shot, raped and beat just for saying the wrong word or wearing something someone selse wanted more.

Luckly my look, size and voice seems to assist me in most of these matters. Only been shot at twice.

Altho we don't live in a high-density area, crime and violence seem to be
pervasive, not only where you live, but thruout the country. Both my wife
and I have concealed-carry permits and we are both proficient. (I was a Navy
and NRA small arms instructor). Not that we're looking for trouble...We
just want to be prepared if it finds us.

Just to point out the differences between living in a metro area, and more of
a suburban area, here in NYC, you practically have to know the Mayor in order
to get a concealled carry permit. The requirements are ridiculous, and they
make it virtually impossible for a civilian to get one, I know, I've tried.
Also since 9-11 they have really tightened up on pistol permits in general,
because they had like 10,000 additional applications filed right after it happened.
The best I could do was to be granted a "residence premise" permit which
luckily I applied for years before 9-11.

(With apologies to all for turning this into an NRA chat room), I know the restrictions you live with in NY. Years ago, we purchased a pistol from the then great Abercrombie & Fitch while visiting in NYC. They had to send it to our local dealer for us.
It's not easy to obtain a CCWP here in NC. It takes months. We have to take hours of instruction, show proficiency on the range and pass a written test, then pay $100 for a 5 yr. license (renewable for another $100), get fingerprinted, have records checked w/ the FBI, SBI, state mental institutions and, if denied, forfeit the $100.
I believe Pete Geisler and the folks down in FL have it a little easier. Still, it's worth the hassle. I've never had to draw my weapon on anyone and I hope I never have to. Have come close, tho. We just retired after 28 years in the jewelry business. Great feeling to make it w/o incident.

Locally there a a number of communities that ahve outlawed hand guns completely. And the others require a "reason" - threats, occupation..... Before a CC permit can be applied for. Just because doesn't work

Again......here in NYC. In order to even begin to be considered for a C.C.
premit, you have to prove that you are in a business where you carry large
amounts of money or jewels on your person at all times.

I can tell you that VIR has a sign that says it prohibits weapons. That
doesn't mean that there aren't any brought in. Almost every track I've ever
been to is the same. Most also prohibit alcoholic beverages but serve beer
at the concession stand (???) and everyone breaks out a beer after the day
is done.

They would follow the host state laws and remember some states do not
recognize other states CCW permits. So, your Florida state permit might not
be valid in NJ.
