Import Cruising

  1. Car & Gun Lovers,

Great American freedoms, includes right to bear arms, (limited in New York
    City) and
driving your gas-gusslin Big Block Fords til the tank runs dry.

We don't worry ' bout no concealed permit, in OSTEEN, FLORIDA. Everyone
of our neighbors have a LEGAL sawed off, hanging from the rack in the back
    of their
Ford Truck. Of course, to see it, you have to look past the dirt from 4
    wheelin, the
    bumper stickers and REBEL flag.

Our current project in the shop, is a 4 wheel Drive KR Shelby, with Dual Gun
    Racks,
Hydralics, Neons and Bullet Proof Glass. This is our own Tribute Edition,
    Serial # 001,
for the unique Miami Market area.

Why I bet, in Georgia, Lee Mathias carries a side mount in the holster,
    still. They
need protection from want-a-bee Moon Shine robbers.

to our local dealer for us.
It's not easy to obtain a CCWP here in NC. It takes months. We have to
take hours of instruction, show proficiency on the range and pass a written
test, then pay $100 for a 5 yr. license (renewable for another $100), get
fingerprinted, have records checked w/ the FBI, SBI, state mental institutions and,
    if denied, forfeit the $100.
I believe Pete Geisler and the folks down in FL have it a little easier.
Still, it's worth the hassle. I've never had to draw my weapon on anyone and
I hope I never have to. Have come close, tho. We just retired after 28
years in the jewelry business. Great feeling to make it w/o incident.

Just to point out the differences between living in a metro area, and more of a suburban area, he
re in NYC, you practically have to know the Mayor in order to get a concealled carry permit. The re
quirements are ridiculous, and they make it virtually impossible for a civilian to get one, I know,
I've tried. Also since 9-11 they have really tightened up on pistol permits in general, because th
ey had like 10,000 additional applications filed right after it happened.
The best I could do was to be granted a "residence premise" permit which luckily I applied for ye
    ars before 9-11.

Stan, My family ran a jewelry business in downtown Asheville, North Carolina for almost 60 years. We had pistols and rifles strategically located all over that store. We never had to shoot any scumbags but we sure chased a few through the streets of our mountain town. Now that I think about it in my late fifties we were down right dangerous. Any good stories that you can share? Joe Bright.

Just a caution--- Multiple risks leaving a firearm in a vehicle; car prowls
    focus on (1) money (2) weapons (3) other/pawnable items. A gun left in a
vehicle is at risk of becoming another criminals' weapon.

    Re: Re: Import Cruising

Nice try Pete, that was when I lived in Kennesaw and the LAW said each individual was required to own a gun. The local civil war store, Wild Man's, was run by a guy named Dent Meyers. He wore two pistols in holsters and two banderleros (sp) of rounds all the time. He was a racist, wife beater , drove a black Gremlin and black Trans AM with a big conferderate flag on the hood.He was generally well liked. Favorite bumper sticker here was "Forget the dog, the owner is armed" I think Wild Man is still alive, the law is in effect but not enforced. As for me, I had a 22 long rifle that we used at the Mustang Farm to plink Chevy hubcaps off the barbed wire fence. I currently do not own a gun, but my 15 year old Georgia raised son has five or six. He is out in the garage getting the engine ready to install in his Christmas present, a 66 coupe. Do you need a permit for a pistol in a holster in plain sight, it is not concealed? See Ya in Pensacola.

Talking about guns and race tracks, when I used to race at Hickory Speedway
on Saturday nites I always carried a gun, some of these guys always wanted
to fight after some fender action, I would not have shot to kill but I like
my friend used to say, we`ll make`em dance back to their trailer dodging
    these bullets.
