Gang, I just received a call from the Ford dealer in Hillsdale, MI, who has an '05 Ford GT and had heard that I'm looking for one. While I have mentioned to friends that I'd like to have one, but not until prices become more reasonable (like, LIST!) and have not been shopping, I'm always willing to listen... For about 5 minutes. They're asking $250k, and I'm just not in the market at that price or anywhere near it, especially after my recent forays into a '37 Zephyr streetrod, a 1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Doctor's Coupe, and (next week, hopefully) a 1937 Derby Bentley, which in total would have bought a GT at just over list if there was one out there. I told the guy that I had waited four years for Vipers to get to list or better before buying a new 1996 at a decent discount and would do the same for the GT. If anybody want to be first on their block, call Eric or Jeff at 517-849-2121. All recalls are supposedly done, but I haven't seen it, don't even know what color it is, etc. Cheers, Mike Heroy CSX4045 67 GT500 #841 68 GT500 #389 85 SVO 99 SP360
For what it is worth, my girlfriend works for an exotic car/ collector car leasing company. She just had a lease come through today for a Ford GT at MSRP ($132k financed amount), for a lessee who found one dealer who was happy taking care of a good customer. Good Lord, what is this world coming to? A dealer selling cars at FULL LIST??? Oh no ! How will they feed their families ? LOL Be patient, the cars will all be at list or slightly above soon. Drive another car for the summer. Let the other guys pay for the privilege of being among the first owners of this production car. Hey, I want one myself, but these are not Cobras - they are making a bunch and next year somebody is bound to have the new "car to beat". Just keep saying "remember the Viper". I know I do.I stepped up hard and "only" paid $25k over in 96 for one of the first Viper coupes. Which Chrysler then recalled for bad welds on the frame and gave me a 97 even up. The 97 had two transmissions under warranty before they figured out a flywheel problem, then had a new engine under warranty for internal coolant leaks that washed the bearings out... they finally bought it back under lemon law. I think it was in the shop for 110 days out of the first 200 or something like that.I put a whopping 2k miles on it.I never bought another Viper. Are you listening, Ford?? I'll take a 2006 Ford GT, black please, with the bugs worked out and at MSRP. Who is with me?
