Anyone have any experience or suggestions on having a new radiator core installed using the original dated tanks? I would like to stick with the 2 core style and have it as original looking as possible.

Its pretty straight forward and any competent radiator shop can do it. The secret is finding one that will spend the time to locate the correct core. Many fit but find one that has the correct row spacing and fin style. Most shops have catalogs that show the cores and spacing. The drawback is due to copper pricing and replacement radiators being more cost effective a lot of core suppliers have shut down.

    Hi,
Just had this done on my 65 GT350. As TLEA said above, they had
a catalog where you could decide which core to use. I used a two
raw with the upper tank bottom having an "opening" for the fan.
One thing I wasn't happy with was that the shop placed the upper
ears of the brackets out of alignment on the top tank. Will have it fixed in
the future. Also, Eastwood's radiator paint may be too glossy in
comparison with originals but it's the only one available if you don't want
to use satin which is much too dull. My top has the following text:
    C4ZE, G2, W-MO, 3 65.

Don't worry about how glossy the Eastwood stuff is. It should dull a little with a little age and once its warmed
    up.

Anyone save the paperwork from the radiator repair (that shows what core they used) I might want to buy a couple and put them back the way things are going ;)

Thanks for the responses. Texas Swede where did you have your radiator done? I also live in the DFW area.

Bill's Radiators and Mufflers in Plano.
They have done two recores and one cleaning on original
radiators for me. Only issue was the alignment of the upper
brackets on the G2 but I take the blame as I should have told them
how picky I am when I picked it up. Cost was $425 for the G2,
    $375 for a Y2 and the cleaning was $75 on a Z2.

There is a two row core available called MX2, which is supposed to have a cooling capacity greater than a three row, ask your radiator guy about it. I recently had an original W-MO date coded rad recored with it and it looks great, barely thicker than an original two row but still fits within the original side straps and can use the original two row shroud brackets.

Haven't had a chance to install it in my 66 yet but will report the results as soon as I do.
