Hello again ! in response to Bob.If the evidence really makes you think that the 65-66 trim was used initially, would the press cars not have used it?And if you are correctly restoring a car would you not base the decision on what to use,on the hole spacing?or perhaps whitness lines in the paint?
I totally agree on the junction block and If the judges are open to giving the benefit to either type, thats cool.As long as there is consistiency the entrant is being treated fairly. It seems that fewer and fewer people are getting into this level,(of concours)and more and more are getting on the track.Just seems tricky to keep everybody happy.:) As I have said before,we must realize how fast Shelby's assembly line was trying to go.They built over 840 more cars than the prior year.

What do you think about the trim rings on my car, 0031 ? There are three pics of them on this discussion. Randy

For what it's worth, my rear valence is original and it has the modified trumpet rings. Plus, the screw holes into the valence match perfectly with the trim ring. I doubt that the prongs on the cougar unit match perfectly with the holes of a trumpet ring. But as you said, the cut out was done with a crude instrument. An added note: the cut outs for the rear tail-lights were even worse....it almost looks like a butcher job.

Randy, the pictures you posted were great . Thank you. 0001 also had the original valance and still had the 66 modified trim. I remember when I had 0008 it had the same ,If I am not mistaken 0003 also had same style trim. Randy's car was the earliest car that had the flat cougar style that I had come across.
