Hello everyone i have just brought a 67 shelby gt500 however is in bad shape needs restoring and just woundered if you could help me. The owner before me or the car in its past life has had the side embelms removed and the holes filled at some point so i dont no where the side embelms go on the front fender(1 each side) can any one give me the dimensions on how far from the side of where the fender meets the door or from the floor up ect. any help would be a blessing also when i purchased the car the taillight panel was bad and i am installing a new one however when shelby installed the back light he used a standard mustang taillight panel if im correct and he then cut it to accommerdate the mercury cougar lights can any body be so kind as to tell me how to do this and if theres any factory sizes to cut to when installing them Thanks for your time Dave p.s if any of you have pictures of the taillight panel when cut please post them would be a huge help.

Tony Branda sells a Book with all the answers from original drwings that you will be needing. I think it is like $15 Bucks. I have an extra one if you need it. let me know- Dave
hay dalton david and jim i have that book from branda however it doesnt give you the dimensions on where the fender badges go can any of you please help me.it also doesnt give the dimensions on how big to cut the taillight panel like jims to except the shelby/cougar lights. thanks for everything every one Dave
I assume the Tail Light Panel was "Hand Cut" with out a template because I have seen them cut differently on several cars.
Hello folks! A few comments about taillamp panels and cutouts. They were cut out with an air hammer, and often when you remove the fiberglass panel you will still find the curl of sheet metal left behind.Kind of a quick and simple way to get this overwith.I wanted to mention how important it is to seal this area when you assemble it.Shelbys initial attempt did not work very well,or for very long. With todays sealers it is a simple job to do.This is crutial to prevent exhaust fumes from being drawn into the car while the engine is running. It also will prevent a wet luggage compartment! So remember to seal not only the fiberglass panel to the metal panel, seal the boxes to the inside of the panel as well.Check for a good seal with water from the outside, and if there is no water getting inside,no exhaust should be able to enter.Do it properly and enjoy the benefits. Patty, I think you meant "air nibbler", which has a similar cut to a sawzall blade. Yes, carefully seal everything.
hay all thanks for the info on taillight panels however my next worrie is where abouts on the fender do my fender badges go? any dimensions would help, got that branda assembly manual and gives you no dimensions for them thanks Dave
Hello 67 G.T. 500 ! The dimentions for the fender emblems are as follows:measure from the ridge line down 7 3/4" and 10 3/4" this gives you the verticle hole placement, now measure from the edge nearest the door opening 2.685" for the upper hole, and 3.00" for the lower hole. The holes are on 3.00" centers. The holes are 1/8 inch.I suggest laying down masking tape first and do the layout on the tape not the paint.Hope this helps you complete your project.Remember measure carefully and if in doubt, make a pattern of the emblem out of cardboard and set it in place to make sure it looks correct...before you drill.Good luck and keep us posted!
thanks for all the infomation on the shelby guys means alot. now ill crack on with the shelby thanks again all all the best Dave
Look on the backside of the fenders. It should be pretty easy to find the original location of the filled holes.
