1968 GT 500 #1842 stolen

Discussion in 'Shelby Mustang List' started by jonlee@wt.net, Jun 10, 2006.

  1. I remember reading about this car and seeing pictures of it when it was sitting on the ground with the wheels sunk into the dirt.

I never thought someone would just come by and pick it up. It would be helpful if anyone knew the whereabouts or even parts.

Jon, Is this not pretty darn hard to pull off? I would think that most
potential buyers would be very, very cautious. Joe Bright, Asheville, N.C.

Unfortunately, this type of thing has happened before. One Shelby was at the
host hotel for a midwest show and a haulback drove up, loaded the Shelby on,
while the owner's friends watched from the second balcony. It turned up a
few years later in San Diego and an ex-cop was arrested for the theft. I'm
not sure if the Cobra plus trailer plus truck was ever recovered after being
stolen in Michigan outside the host hotel for SAAC 29.
And these were real nice cars.
