Ok, I need you smartShelby guys and gals help here. I have a 69 Boss 302 that (since I have had it) has never had the rear spoiler on the car. That's not to say I dont have the spoiler because I do.. The problem is that I am too much of a woos to drill the holes for fear of screwing up. I was at a show and ran in to another person who had one and said I needed to get the rear spoiler mount brackets to offer stability and because it helps to show you exactly where the holes are to be drilled. this makes Daryl happy and I ordered them. I did not take photos of how the install correctly and they came with no instructions so I was hoping one of you may have these on you cars or have some familiarity with it.. Any photos would be great.. the part number I am installing if it helps is c9zz-6344220-B I know I am not that stupid but I just cant seem to figure out how they go on properly Daryl Thanks friends and have a great thanksgiving
The 69 spoiler was plastic, and bolts went up thru the bottom...no reinforcement brackets were used in 1969.. The 1970 spoiler was fiberglass, and used the reinforcement brackets... I can scan some pics if you need them..if you have the Donald Farr book, I believe there are some pics in there...
Hi all! Just a quick note:Realizing how rare a 69 BOSS is,I really would not recommend any modifications be done to original parts.A Marti report will confirm the original build-If you dont have one,get one before you make any changes. The reinforcements you have are for a 1970 and as with most repo parts will not fit flat/flush as they really should for the added strength.They can be cut and made to fit with some tlc,this may be why they just have you hesitant to proceed.Study first..maybe even consider finding another trunk lid and preserving the original..Good Luck with your choice P.D.
IF you choose to add here is a response I posted on another site last week for a guy looking to add a 69 to a 69 Mach I --------------------------- Place the base gasket so that the rear edge is approx 5 1/8-1/4" from the top edge of the lip on the trunk lid and the outside edge of the gasket is approx 2 1/2" (shortest distance) from the outside edge of the trunk lid. Tape the gaskets in place and use them as a template for the four holes. That it what I've done in the past Also remember that you will need to form a small (approx 1/2" in length) round spacer to fit between the bolt head and the trunk lip top surface. If not, when you tighten it down you can crush the inner liner to the trunk surface or deform the trunk surface. The 69 trunks do not have the oval cut out like the 70 but they also do not get the extra support that reinforces them to the trunk hinge arm area.

From what I've found, I'm sure the original '69 and '70 trunk lids are different. The '70 has the oval hole for the support bracket to go threw were the '69 doesn't. I would also leave your original panel as is. Patty is correct, I've seen the brackets leave "half moon" dents on the trunk lid after the wing was bolted down. If you just have to have it, I would find a '70 trunk lid with the oval hole to do your alterations. Save your original. [JMO]
I also agree with most of the opinions presented here. Save the original and use a '70 deck lid. Once the holes are in the the deck lid, they are there forever.
