Does anyone know if a Victor Jr on a 351w will clear the stock 69 Shelby hood (with an air cleaner)? Or does anyone have a stock 69 GT 350 intake that could give me a height measurement from the end rails to the carb mounting pad? Thanks, Mike mheinemann@charter.net
Re: 69 hood clearance Shotgun, I'm, currently running a Weiand Stealth intake on my 392W in my 69 shelby 4sp. Here's what I did to make it work, and I'm sure something similar will work with your victor jr: Took a stock 69 351W air cleaner housing and sectioned 3/4" out of the air horn section, then welded it back together. This allowed the air cleaner housing to sit lower and make up for the increased hieght of the Weiand Stealth. I was forced to run an Edelbrock carb on my car because the new low profile aircleaner won't clear Holley DP center pivot bowls. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the Edelbrock carb is much easier to tune and runs smoother. I'm sure I gave up a few horses from my 750DP at mid to wide open throttle, but I have too much for the 235 BFG rubber on the car anyway and gladly took the smoother operation. It all sits down right and looks stock, sleeper like. Bryan
Re: 69 hood clearance Any chance you could get me a height measurement of the carb and the intake? I would still like to find the height if a stock intake also. Thanks, Mike
Re: 69 hood clearance Perfect- any chance of a measurement from end rails of intake to air cleaner mounting flange of carb?(straight edge out from carb flange) Thanks, Mike
Re: 69 hood clearance Shotgun - you're looking for the stock 69 intake hieght, right? If so, I'll get it sometime this week. The original egine to the car is on a stand in a storage unit, I'll swing by on my way home from work this week. The 392 stroker in the car (with the top end off) is not the original motor.
Re: 69 hood clearance Putting a straight edge on the carb pad and then measuring verticle from the rear end rail on the maniford, the Weiand Stealth is 5 and 5/8" tall. I'll get the stock set-up today.
