    I saw a Marti Report for a '69 GT500 that listed:

5 Special Paint, Ford # below with blackout hood treatment

I thought the blackout hood treatment was only on 1970's Shelby's?

The build date on the Marti Report was April, 1969, and the VIN was clearly listed as 1969.

    What's up with this report?

The Marti report shows only what was done on the regular Ford assemblyline . The black out wording may have something to do with the black out hood on a Mach I paperwork wise . The 69/70 fastbacks stated live as a Mach I. The cars were delivered to AO Smith for conversion into Shelby's from Ford WITHOUT a hood or front fenders .The 70 Shelby conversions were done at Kar Kraft. Any conversions to 1970 status had to be delivered to Kar Kraft since AO Smith was not equipped for the changes. I hope this helps explain your question. Bob
