in a few weeks I'm going to LA for vacation. Anyone from the area have any good shelby related places to see that are still there, such as the Airport Hangers, old race shop, or any other points of interests. not very knowledgable about the area but mapquest could be my friend if I had some addresses...THANKS for any help guys.

Dave, Here in LA there are two locations still worth seeing. First is 1042 Princeton Drive in Venice http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...42+Princeton+Dr&city=Venice&state=ca&zipcode=
This is the snake pit, where it all started, it is still standing but may not be for long, the Carter St facility where the street cars and financing offices just where torn down last year.

Also the LAX facility at 6501 W. Imperial HWY is still there but is now a THAI Airways freight terminal.

Depending on when you arrive you should come to the LASAAC meeting. In August we are having an open track at Willow Springs and our annual car show on the Santa Monica Pier. http://www.lasaac.org/

    All the best,

Look for restoration shop before you come

I like going to Mike McCluskey's shop at Torrance airport, after that you could go hang out in Redondo Beach.

There might be a Shelby specific restoration shop, have to look for that on the net.

There's also AutobooksAerobooks in Burbank, has more car books than you've ever seen in one place at one time.

Petersen Museum is a kick in the head, right on Wilshire. Be sure to go to Grove shopping center, nothing to do with cars but an idealized shopping center at Fairfax & Third.

Contact the LA Shelby clubs and find out if they are having meetings about the time you are here. There's COCOA in Orange County, an LA club and a San Diego club.
