    289 Mystery Camshaft Kit

I have a camshaft kit I am trying to identify the application for. It is in an old “CS SHELBY FBK-1255-C CAMSHAFT KIT” labeled box. It is a camshaft and lifters kit for a 289. The camshaft itself is marked “SK8821 HC7”.

I have various Shelby after-market catalogs between 1965 (Shelby American) and 1971 (Autosports) that offer various shafts and kits for 289s but I can not find reference to either the FBK-1255-C or SK8821 numbers in the catalogs or dealer price lists. The lifters appear to be standard mechanical ones like used in HP289 production engines.

With the shaft being marked with a “sketch” (i.e. SK) engineering number it was probably not a high volume sales item or it might have a regular Ford style engineering number like the various C6FE and C7FE prefix parts for the Group II and GT40 engines.

Does anybody have any reference material that identifies the application for this kit?

    Thanks.

    Dan

    Is it a Sullivan?

I heard there was this old guy named Sullivan who made the cams for Shelby race cars, but he was a Ford employee who probably didn't sell stuff under his own name.
