did the 65 gt350 come with the shelby intake and were the valve covers marked as shelby or cobra open letters? also do i need to put the fiberglass front valance on or is the metal one correct for 65? want to build as correct as possible gt350 clone. hopefully that does not offend anyone.

The 65's came with the small letter "Cobra" intake, Cobra valve covers and a metal front valence. The fiberglass one with the larger opening was for the R-Model. The large letter Cobra intake was used on 66 GT350's. Hope that helps

    ken,
thanks that does help. i found intake and valve cover with the shelby on them and did not want to lose them if they were correct. supposed to be originals. they were 350 for three pieces. is that a good price anyway?

That would be a steal. I would doubt if they were original. The intake alone could set you back at least a grand for a correct small letter one.

Here is a small letter intake

If they say SHELBY and not COBRA they could be vintage from Shelby's racing parts division but not original to 65 350

The intake should have 4 holes in it where the carb sets on it and the valve covers should have "Buddy Bar" cast into them on the inside.

Post a picture of them here. We would like to see them. If they say "Shelby" on them (intake and valve covers) they are worth the $350. Not a great price but a good price.. They are not "correct" for a 65 Shelby.. You are building a clone. There is no such thing as correct or incorrect for a clone. There is only .. Yeah that would be cool.. It is the fun and beauty of a clone project..

They are nice. They would go great on your car. Imagine sticking your head under the hood and smelling hot motor smell, gas smell, and that wonderful smell that permatex gasket goop gives off when it is still drying... now GO FOR IT....

    And remember this other example....

Here is a clipped quote from a Shelby for sale on E-Bay right now....

"........The car went through a complete rotisserie restoration approximately 9 years ago ..... The restoration process took approximately 3 years to complete and the receipts total over 70000 dollars. ........The car has been professionally stored in a climate controlled area since restoration......... It has 60 miles on it since complete restoration."

Here is a car that has had 60 miles put on it in the last 12 years... This car has been so much fun for it's owners that they have decided to sell it to share the happiness...

    jimbo,
please do not get me to excited..it is a ways off before i can smell the engine smells. the best part is my grandson who sticks his head in the garage and takes a big smell and says "Grandpa your garage smells great" do i ever light up. he will love this gt350 clone.... that being said one writer said these could be from the shelby vintage series. i am trying to figure out if they are real or repro. real would be awesome. again thanks to all for your help.

Rest assured they are real... Old Cal would not stand for someone knocking off his name... It would cost to much to tool up to make them as knock-offs .....and if someone was going to break the law (producing fakes) they would make ones that say COBRA.
