I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to enjoying the enormous wealth of information here. I've been a Shelby and Mustang fan since I was very young and currently own a '97 SVT Cobra.

I'm in the market for a Shelby and saw this recently:

    http://www.fraserdante.com/3709 - 66 Shelby GT350H/66 GT350H.htm

Does anyone have any knowledge about the car? It seems to have some good documentation (letter from Pardee, SAAC, etc.) and the story seems valid. I was hoping that someone knew something specific about it or had seen it in person or for sale previously.

Also, any comments on the asking price considering the non-numbers transmission or the Webers?

    Thank you in advance,
    Lashdeep

The original trans and carb come with the sale. This car is also on ebay for the second time around. I think it is a nice car and they are a pretty reputable company.

Thanks KenG. Do you have a link to the old auction number? I'm curious as to what $$$ figure the auction stopped at.

    Thanks,
    LS

Go to Fraser Dante's webpage, and see they have the car for sale for $97,950. www.fraserdante.com. They are in the northeastern suburb of Atlanta, consignment sale type place, usually some pretty high $$ for their cars, but if they can stay in business, they must sell stuff and I'd assume it's all legit, numbers verified, history verified, etc. Earlier this year, they had a 66 blue/white GT350, were asking $75k for the car, and I guess it sold. The car has been fairly extensively modified, be nice to have as much of the old stuff like the auto trans, etc.

Thanks for the info. The original link I posted above was from fraserdante.com actually. I may have a friend nearby check it out this weekend.

I called the dealer and they confirmed that the engine and rear are original, but the trans is not. It comes with a period correct T10 but it was originally an auto car.

    It's an interesting situation.

    Thanks again,
    LS

I could live without the original gearbox. 65/66's have gone thru the roof in prices.

I love having a 5spd in my 66 it sure made the drive from Dallas to Tulsa more pleasurable the year. I drove back with a Hertz car and he had to stop for gas on the way home. I just got a Coke. The T-10 is in storage so my kids can sell it at my estate sale. Who wouldn't like a 66 with Webers  Just my 2 cents worth. Larry

5spd is the way to go, looking to do that swap on the 67 GT350 one of these days. When I go cruising with the Superformance Cobra crowd, they roll w/5spds doing 80 @2200rpm, and I'm afraid to look at my tach trying to keep up!!

word to the Shelby hunters: Bust a Move as quick as you can!! most of these cars Do not last for sale very long!!
as for Original This or that, the most important fact is that it is Not a Re Bodied car. Many Shelbys are rolling without their original Power plants and it may drop the price about 5-10% which is not much. try and find a Long time owner who has decided to sell. if you go through a Dealer, request to speak with the previous owner to get some history. Fraser Dante is a good dealer who has been Selling these cars for Many years. Forristall's in Texas, Tango Classics in Massachuessets is a relative new comer, but tackling the Shelby Re sell business by storm. and then there is Old Faithful, Bill Collins in Pennsylvania who Owns very Cool Shelbys and buys and sells them as well. Conover's in Pennsylvania has been at it for some time as well with a good reputation. also Stephen Becker in Georgia but come with a heavy checkbook as he only plays with the top of the line Quality cars and they do not come cheap. He has been in the Game over 20 years and knows these cars as good as anybody. that is a few of the folks I can think of off the top of my head and I mean no disrespect to anyone that I left out. But feel free to add some names guys if you know of any other good dealers!
