I have a late 66 GT-350 that came with the argent painted Magnums. I have the original wheels and center caps but there are no trim rings. Did this wheel come with a trim ring originally or was it just a painted rim

    Re: another wheel question

AFAIK, there was not a trim ring on the painted Magnums. My '66 also came with the painted Magnum 500's. Alas, I only have one of them.

Thanks for the info - one more request - if you have an original , can you measure the wheel backspace and let me know. I would like to compare to mine to make sure they are the real thing.

The original 66 painted Magnums are quite different from other Magnum 500 wheels. All wheel manufacturers were required to add a "safety bead" to the outer flanges of their wheels, starting in 1967. Therefore, the original 66 Shelby Magnum 500 wheels do not have the safety bead. The outer flange is more flat. I can post a couple of pictures in a day or so. I have a set of N.O.S. painted magnums for my 66. I also have an original set of chrome Hertz Magnums.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Ken. Some photos would be great. What is the backspacing on your wheels ? Also curious about the silver paint color. Mine are a matte silver metallic that almost looks like a bead blasted aluminum finish. I think the paint is original because there is still an orange paper tag on the inside of the rim with this paint beneath it. The Tag says Motor Wheel Corp. ( hard to read ) Lansing Mich. Magnum 500 Custom , L-35690. Also - stamped on the inside of the rim is 14 x 6 JK , 795 M made in USA. Does any of this match up to your wheels ?
