Just finsihed installing new carpet in 6S1185 and have a couple questions regarding the seatbelts. The belts are Ray Brown chrome.

The hardware on the "non-latch" belt ends have 2 rivots.

Are these rivots for the leather backing piece? I know some cars came w/o the leather piece, but did they still have the rivots? If so, should 1185 have the leather piece? What are people using to replace this leather piece? Do reproductions exist or can a person simply go to a leather shop and buy a hunk of leather and fabricate your own. What are the proper dimensions?

I've looked at 100's of pictures (Nevada SAAC site has an amazing galary of cars) and see no consistent placement regarding which belt goes on which side of the seat. Every combination of which belt goes where can be seen!! My car had the "non-latch" belt on the left hand side for both driver and passenger seats when I removed the carpet, but I want to put them back "correct".

How were the seatbelts installed when they left the factory?

Thanks in advance for you help

I have also seen every variety and combination, Including ---leather shiny side up or down, ----leather on the latch half (little extra tabs on the latch side for rivets) Zinc plated metal (not chrome)
On the belts that I consider "original" the shiny side of the leather is down (to rest against your clothing) latch to the right for the driver. Small washers on the rivets, the leather is attached to the triangular hoop side.
