Hey guy's, trying to gather up all the right stuff to totally re do the brake system. I've found that there was two different sizes of rear brake cylinders, 7/8" and 13/16". I believe the 13/16" is correct for this car? Also, any experience in the performance of the two? Any help is greatly appreciated! Matt.
Hi to a 67 owner, The correct wheel cylinders are the larger ones. They are necessary because the brakes are larger than standard Mustang brakes. They are still available from Ford.Be certain you flush out the entire system..There are a few ways to prevent them from siezing, the simpilest is to maintain the brakes.Flush/bleed every 3 years even if it is not driven. Hope this helps P.D.
Hi again, Just found the Ford part number for rear wheel cylinders. It was still a good number a few months ago--try D1AZ-2261-A.Hope it gets you back on the road soon. Regards P.D.
According to me 13/16" might be perfect size for your cylinder. Larger cylinders are always correct for them. Brakes are still larger then original car brakes. I think you should flush it every 3 years if it is not driven. It might be better for your car.
If you have the original wheel cylinders, (they have small bleed screws) (and aren't available anymore) I'd have the originals sleeved & rebuilt so you keep that small bleeder. Karps in California did a nice job on mine.
