i am now facing the problem to decide what to do with my original door panels...of course like most , they are damaged at the pull area ( riped ) . I did buy repo s many years ago...but they dont even come close to originals either on fitting or apperance. My question : Are these repairable ?? i mean fixed to be concours acceptable. Please folks share your experiences on this topic. Thanks .
Tough choice: points off for a tear, of points off because some repopper didn't do their homework. I don't know how they are today. I bought my repop panels 4-5 years ago and they are too grainey, and too thick, and even the grain in the plastic door cups in incorrect. And everybody complains about this. SAAC Div II they are accecptable. Often enough good enough for the MCA too. Just remember, "IF" better ones become available, you will need to get them as there is the "use the best available" thought in the judging world.
Used to be a guy named gene painter in s.c. I think that restored originals. He did pretty good.Dont know if he is around anymore. I gave my upholstry guy some 67 panels recently and he is recovering. I am still waiting for him to finish. Will let you know how they turn out. chris
