I'm restoring a 68, but the shifter was missing. Are the auto shifters that fit in the shelby consoles the same as the mustang console ones or do they use the standard auto shifter? Thanks.
This is what you are looking for: eBay Motors: 1965-1973 SHELBY MUSTANG AUTO COBRA SHIFT KNOB (item 130083110932 end time Mar-01-07 14:26:02 PST)
I'm not looking for the knob, I'm looking for the metal shifter - there are two styles for mustangs standard & console. I'm just not sure which was used in the shelby console.
Should find it here: eBay - 67,1967,68,1968 shelby shifter, 67,1967,68,1968 shelby shifter Parts Accessories - buy and sell on eBay Motors
I actually did not see one there. Here are all the stores on Ebay that have Automatic Shifters. I would call a couple and I bet they tell who would have it: eBay Stores - Shifters, Transmission Drivetrain, Car Truck Parts items on eBay.com
The only problem is everyone puts shelby on every part. So what I'm asking is not where to find it, but which part is it, the mustang console model or the mustanf standard model.
It is the same as the standard Mustang shifter. The Shelby console has a specific one for the auto with a slightly larger opening than the stick version.
Tlea Ok, so it uses the standard shifter and cover. NOT the shifter for the consoles on the mustang. Thanks.
