Hey Guys, Just wanted to let you know if you were thinking of swaping a 5sp into a 68gt350, dont hesitate. Its the best of 2 worlds..I have 3:89 gears and put a New Tremec TKO500 5-sp into the car, used the same driveshaft, but changed the yoke. Ordered the shorter input shaft and used my old bell houseing and clutch assembly. The trans was a bolt in. I used the aftermarket trans mount but modified it so the trans was 1/8 inch from the top of the tunnel. Installed the aftermarket stock looking shifter and 4sp knob. Installed the console, cut it 1/8 inch forward a tad and had to trim the right forward shifter opening in the tunnel about 1/8 inch to clear 5th gear. I also had to make a alumium spacer to move the shifter 1/2 to the left and 1" to the rear to center the shifter in the console. Wasent too bad. Sounds worse than it was...Looks stock and im the only one who knows it has another gear!..but I love haveing the 3:89 gears in the first 4 speeds and then 5th gear!. 60mph @ 1800rpm and 80mph @ 2500...!!..talk about less wear and tear..also great gas milage!..All for about $2,000...just parts...Of course I saved the stock top loader and shifter. Its great cruiseing at 2000rpm with the Air ON!...Can you say "ICE COLD A/C..!!...".... Just thought Id pass on the info... If interested I got everthing from TTC Eric Swarr in Collegeville PA. 610.489.4029 Great Guy, Big Help. Cevon...
