Does anybody out there have a 68 with the original Shelby VIN rivets in place? If so what color are they? I have some info that suggests originals were black.

My old 68 GT500 had aluminum ones and they were old as dirt! Never saw Black ones and I have seen many!

I've only seen aluminum too but most have been replaced @ repaint or vin verification. Max @AMK has black ones which he says are correct for 68.

My 68 GT 500 has aluminum rivets. They have never been removed, and I have owned it since it was 4 yrs old. My 67 GT 500 rivets are aluminum, but I think they were blk since it was removed when painted.

I heard if you take the black one and soak them in salt water they will turn color and look real close to original.
