Hello Everyone Does anyone know the changeover date or serial number car (approx) when the 68 Tag went from reading Shelby American to Shelby Automotive. Many thanks M
The serial numbers won't help because they weren't necessarily built in order. I can tell you they said American through 1/26/68. The door sill tags should also say American instead of Automotive.
Kickstand has a 2/13 build with Automotive so if you are after then yours would probably say that as well. I also have confirmation from a 2/23 and 2/28 as well
That would be fine then. Pretty sure the door plate data tag says 21B. Thanks for that... I was told unconfirmed that up to build 800 should be Shelby AMerican, not automotive- hence my question. Started to concern for sure.
My tag is a Shelby Automotive and a early 68 model and a low shelby mumber, in the two hundred series
My #937 says American with a build date of12/22 and as Tlea said my 1473 is Automotive with a build date of 2/13
Very enteresting, my # 1648 build date 1-11-68. Marti Report says built on 1-29-68,--18 days later. ---S.
My '68 Shelby #432 was built in October 1967 if I.... remember correctly and it has a Shelby American VIN plate. It looks like it is 38 years old as well but I'm no expert. By the way I love all of the original Shelbys. I don't care about which year it is, 1965-1970. I love all of them. Merry Christmas to all.
My 68 GT500 has one tag of each, it is a early 68 362 I think. I just thought they used what they had at the time. Gary
Yea and 66 was the last of the real mans cars. Who needs the sissy stuff like P/S & P/B. I would kind of like air though. I must be getting old!
