I've been on a Holley parts buying spree lately, and got a 715 cfm marine body. (it's a list # 9029). I would like to try and recreate a period correct ish resto mod motor for my 67 Cougar XR7. I have an "A" code 289 donor motor with the buddy bar valve covers. So, does any one here have any direct experience with this? I realize that the Shelby carb has a different part number. But, why can't I use the 715 body, and put the 'le mans' bowels on with new metering blocks??
I know that I can buy a new 715 for 950.00 dollars. I don't need one that bad. It isn't really about the money, I just want to try for a 'look'. I'm sure I'm not the only person on the board that does things sometimes because they are difficult......
