    It is not surprising to see this sort of bickering amongst enthusiasts. In fact it is stereotypical. Likely this person is in his 50's and a brand loyal person. Nothing wrong with that, but people tend to concider things of their youth and what they are familiar with the best. At one time Cobras and Shelby Mustangs could be had cheap too. This guy could have taken flack then. If we go back another generation, it was all about highboys of the 30's and big band. Anything else was not cool. Music follows this same way. Then a younger generation came along and it then became the 50's cars and Kingston Trio. Then the cars of the later 60's and Beatles and Stones. As i grew up in the late 80's and 90's, I was reading all about the '89 Turbo Trans Am and the SVO Mustang and the Shelby GLHS and how they were all technically higher performance on a track than previous gen cars. Radial tires, computer calibrated suspensions etc. And it was Guns N Roses and Def Lepard. And today it is the Hennessey Viper and Lingenfelter Corvette, and . Cars that crush the previous gens of cars in all out performance. 1100 HP cars for the street. Cars just continue to improve. Once the GLHS beat the Ferrari and compared lap times to a 'vette, but today's Vettes and Ferrari have surpased that performance. Those who purchase cars like the new GT500 and Hennessey Vipers and ZO6 corvettes will look upon all of the older gen cars as inferior. Some of us appreciate most genres of music and cars. All our cars are part of Shelby history. Don't let one person's views bother you. :thumbup:

    However, desirability also has alot to do with it and how the car impacted culture, good looks help too. I like some of the Dodge-Shelby products but they are not desired even as much in general a 5.0 Mustang of the same era.

    I believe I mentioned before that I had a Turbo Shelby Front wheel drive Charger for a few months in 1991-92. it was shockingly quick when the Turbo kicked in. I bought the car for $900 Dollars and sold it to a friend for the same 5 months later. it was and always will be my first SHELBY! I respect the fact that Iacocca asked for "SHELBY magic" to help kick start an American Company that had fallen on hard times. (So once it got going a German company could buy it...) The real Dark horse in Shelby History I feel is the Ultra cool Series One. had they been equipped with FORD's 4.6 engines instead of the Olds Aurora power plant......They may have sold all 500.

    If you want to talk about '80's turbo cars...Buick led the way with the Grand National's along with the Indy car programs....
    You gotta love a 5 passenger sedan that could spank vettes, and made a great cruiser...

    Had SFI fuel injected turbo...long before most cars...

    I have had mine Buick G.N. since new, and dont plan on letting it go...
