I posted this in the Events section a month ago. http://www.shelbyforums.com/forums/events-forum/4698-unique-performance-fest-oct-14-a-new-post.html Thought some people might not check the bottom of the page very often. With all the N. Texas members seems like there would have been at least one responce! Larry
I saw your post but was not sure if I would be able to make it over there. I just returned to town and I'm probably 70% sure I'll go. I know there will be some great cars. It should be great weather and good times! Randall
Hope to see you there Randall. I will be in the red 66 350 with the Paxton. There was about 15 vintage Shelbys last time. Larry
I heard Carroll made it there to the show, however I didn't see him there. Of course I was only there for about an hour (12 to 1pm).
I was there from 8:30 to 2:30 and never heard about Mr. Shelby being there. Not as many vintage Shelbys as last time and they were scattered about. Not all in one location. Took my 16 year old step daughter. We had a great time. She wants to restore a old car . After seeing Mango's Boss 9, that is what she want's , Yea right after I get one. Said she would settle for a 69 Mach 1. May go look at one after she gets home from school. Any one in the N. Tx. area have a 69/ 70 fastback for sale. Good/bad thing is she wants to paint it herself and I sold my paint booth years ago. Luckly I just loned out my rotissory.
I was really surprised how much that show has grown. I haven't been to one of their shows since the first one back in '03. Lot's O folks there now. I have a feeling they would have buried the Shelby Dodges somewhere hidden if we would have shown up as a group JK I also feel I would need to put ALOT more prep time for showing a car there now, even the so called "Rat" rods were very well done... Next year I hope to be able to spend more time and look around, there was lots to see.
Forgot my camera. If your convertible is white and blue, they had the painted shell on display. Looks good from what I saw. Shouldn't take long to finish. Larry
Good to hear, that is my car. Suppose to be done at the end of November. I need to go down there and put about 150 miles on it before I ship it to San Diego. If any of you guys are local and want to put a couple miles on it, let me know. I am guessing early December for a trip.
My guess is the line to get a test drive will end in Oklahoma by the time the car is finished, so I'll get my name in early..... ^^^ 1st volunteer, line starts behind me ... Hmm, gotta dig out that camping gear now.... You would have done that regardless.... I've seen your car David, and I would have been second choice at the dance.
My name has been on that list for some time now!!!!! Is Heasley going to make it? Here is a link to some photos http://franksperformance.com/Forums/index.php?automodule=gallery&cmd=sc&cat=20 Here is a shot of mine. http://franksperformance.com/Forums/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=si&img=1263
Is he the photographer? I emailed him 2x and did not hear back from him. It would be fun to get a magazine or some PR around it. Being somewhat new to the hobby/sport (1 year) and I not sure how that quite works. You do have 1st dibs, GLHS4444 is right behind you. Is there a track near by where we can take it? I would be happy to rent some time and go push that thing a little. P.S. The guy doing the restoration on my 67 GT500 and my 68KR convert is also a race car driver in the summer. He is going to test it a little as well and teach me how not to kill myself. The car has 725 HP and 750lbs of torque and is a 3.6 sec 0-60 car. I imagine spinning it off the road going into 2nd and 3rd is really easy.
http://www.motorsportranch.com/index.cfm Is the only road track I know of. To bad you are not picking it up this week end. A friend of mine is having a car show with free drag racing afterwards http://www.dfwstangs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=301060 . We could put 150 miles on it 1/4 mile at a time. Even though he is a Nissan dealer he is a big time Ford nut. Yes, Jerry Heasley is the photographer. You might be better off getting Unique to contact him. Or contact Scott Black @ TimePiece Public Relations Dallas, Texas www.timepiecepr.com 214.520.3430 (ext. 303) He does the P.R. for Unique I am sure he would like to get some free press on this. Larry
Great stuff, I called him and left a message. That track looks perfect, I will them when I get some firm dates from Unique. 1/4 mile at a time sounds good to me!!!
I feel pretty certain which Nissian dealership that is.... North Texas Nissan right? There are always killer looking cars parked out front, and not just fast Fords either. This guy is a real car nut. I don't know the guy, but I live real close to that dealership (even got to see their big fire of few years back, I though my house was next) and I've had the pleasure of veiwing the ever changing car show he puts on Tell him to keep up the good work
