Anything at all from Ford to compliment their GT500 purchases? I looked through the archives, did a search, found a few related topics, but now that it has been many months since most folks have purchased their GT500's, maybe someone has later or more current news.

We should get something, like a certificate of authenticity, etc. I thought it was Ford's policy to provide COA's to purchasers of SVT vehicles, that document their SVT vehicles? The GT500 may not be pure 100% SVT like the Cobra's, but the GT500's have SVT tags on them, have SVT stamped on the Owners manual case and are referenced as from SVT in the owners manual. So what gives? At least I got a little package with some touch up paint in it from GM when I bought my 2006 Cobalt SS S/C that cost less than half the price of a Shelby GT500.

Just seems pretty pathetic that we don't at least get a COA to go with our nearly $60000 GT500's.

Doc, it is FORD's opinion that being able to buy the car at all was your gift from them. an exhorbitant surcharge thrown on top of an affordale MSRP would only have raised the price higher if they were to spend $15.00 on printed SVT documents to reassure you that you really did get one and not a clone! but fret not, my new Shelby GT came with an offer to get a framed, numbered picture of a Car that looks like mine and signed by CS himself for only $599.00!!! but we do get real SHELBY underhood and Dash plaques. very cool. and you can get these for MSRP! I know you will get me by Half a second in the quarter mile, but on the twisties, that 300 extra pounds on your front end makes the GT out corner the GT500. maybe spend the extra $10,000 and send the car to Vegas to get the official SHELBY 40th anniv. upgrade. not sure if it includes a signed picture but fret not, at least they will sell you one!

I have to say upon reading your tongue and cheek post

I LMAO. I have said all along that the Shelby Mustang GT's are going to be real sleepers as far as collectability, (i.e. a lot of future potential) just because they were actually hands on modified by Shelby. There is no doubt in my mind that these Shelby GT cars will also handle very, very well in the twisties.

I bought a limited edition of the Red w/white stripes Shelby GT500 with the small picture of a white 1967 GT500 at the bottom, and prototype rearend in the background (which had the Shelby lettering all the way across the back under the spoiler), signed by Shelby, for a mere $623.75. I wasn't even sent a COA, so I called Shelby Int. and they graciously sent me one. I have to say that Shelby Int. seem's to be pretty darn good to deal with. At least the shipping for the plexiglass framed limited edition print was free. We can get C.S personally signed dash plaques with our VIN (and Shelby GT500 sill plates) for the GT500 also, for another mere $299.99. A lot of the upgrades with the GT500 40th ANNV. kit are also available individually for premium prices of course.

I am all for helping out Shelby's charity, however, it appears to me as though C.S. may have fallen face first into an enormous pit filled with money this go around with Ford, Foose, and Unique Performance, and on and on and on. Oh well, if it had to happen to someone, I suppose he is the as deserving as anyone, though he is still very adamant about the team effort it took to create this phenomenon in the first place.

Has anyone else noticed the dude (name ommited) that has been buying all the first edition Shelby Mustangs on B/J? That is pure genius. He can no doubt write off the millions of $$ he paid for the cars as Shelby charity donations - (B/J can also write off all the fees they don't charge), then he gets the cars for a lot less then he paid for them (after the tax breaks are considered), which will be worth mega dollars down the road. No wonder he is a millionaire.
