Sad news from Australian this morning, Aussie touring car driving legend Peter Brock was killed Friday during a Targa rally event in Western Australia. He was killed instantly when the Daytona Coupe replica he was driving side impacted a tree on the driver's side door. I had the pleasure of being stationed in Australia in the early 1990s and became a fan of "Brocky's" and Ozzie Touring car racing. I don't think there was who earned the respect and admiration of the fans and his fellow competitors like Peter. Hopefully SpeedTV will have some sort of a tribute this weekend, if it doesn't interrupt their 500 hours of Nascar coverage..... RIP Brocky. Sorry about posting such a large photo.
An absolute legend over here and an ambassador for the sport. Spent much of his time giving back to charities. He was known to be always the last driver left standing signing autographs. V8 supercars over here would not be where is it today if it wasnt for Brocky. He was a legend even to Ford fans. The Bathurst race in 1979 when he set the race record on the very last lap and won by 6 laps is like folklaw over here - even for us diehard Ford fans. Those who know the circuit would know what I mean. RIP.
