New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands OK so it's mostly the new '07 and '08 Shelby Mustangs but it has at least three historical articles including a great one about the origin of the Terlingua Racing team logo. The magazine, which has lots of color, was edited by professional writers like Donald Farr and seemed to have their pick of the Petersen Publishing archives as far as art. I paid I think under $7 for it at the regular bookstore (can't remember it it was Borders or Barnes & Noble). I can't figure out if it's a quarterly but it is definitely not a monthly because it has a Keep-on-sale notice extending several months. There are lots of ads in it for the new Team Shelby club so I guess this is the club magazine in effect though I can't remember if the list of items provided by the club promises any magazine. If you have any lingering doubts why Shelby found it necessary to fund a new club ,known as Team Shelby, these will be dispelled by the new magazine which promotes the cars Shelby and Ford are making now. My theory is that the old organization just couldn't get behind the new cars as much as Shelby and Ford wanted them to. I like the illuminating news about the new models but just hope each and every issue will continue to have a historical component as well as there is plenty of good stories to be unearthed ....
Re: New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands I do not believe for a second that there will be a follow up issue to that magazine. and if there is, it will not be done to the high standards there was Full color on every page and very thick. I believe it is a Promotional tool used by Shelby Autos to promote their cars and interest people in their newly forming Club. Nice Collectible if you want to believe how certain aspects in Shelby History appear in this magazine. it would be a great hand out at Barrett~Jackson
Re: New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands Slick indeed! I guess this is the big promo to start off the "Team Shelby" happenings. It's rumored that $200,000 was made available to the group that is doing the leg work. I think a lot of that went to produce this magazine. shlby66
Re: New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands Just a fluff job for the new "club" they might even send free copies out to all the ex=SAAC members after they kill it in an attempt to get them to join.
Re: New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands I thought the magazine was well done and a very interesting read. Vern
Re: New SHELBY magazine on the newsstands Yes it is geared to the new cars, but, it contained plenty of historical info to the point where it seemed to me to be a "New" Shelby American Guide. Similar to the one Rick Kopeck wrote some 30 years ago. However, I coudn't figure where they got those values for the old cars. The top price for a 67 Gt350 was way low if you ask me. And, what, NO depreciation for the new cars? Gimme a break!
