Go to the SAAC web page and look for the registar for 69 to 70 year vehicles, you can email or call them with your information.

9S02S100029 is listed at the end of the 69/70 cars in the registry as a GT500 prototype. Sure is a close number. This car was assembled at Allen Park MI pilot assembly plant. It still exist today. SAAC does not count it in Shelby production but it must have value. People go nuts over other prototypes at BJ auctions... A marti report would be interesting.

Would be interested but I'm guessing the Marti report will not tell you if its a Shelby. Since this was a pilot car and if it was made into a Shelby that would have happened (likely) after the car left the assembly line.

Will be interesting in any case

    Re: barn find

Kevin Marti organisation has responed by saying i was correct by quoting car is a prototype and that the vin is recognised in their records , but they do not offer a report on these cars. if they can verify the vin as being correct on their records , well what other info do they have , how do you persuade an outfit like that to render a report
on this car ... any thoughts . this would be unique on its own .......

    Re: barn find

Did they indicate they had more information? Sounds like they pull it up and see the world "prototype" and that's it. I would try to get that in writing from them as that is documentation itself. You might ask them specifically what do they see when the pull that VIN up. Maybe there's one or two more nuggets of information. I would imagine if there was regular information they would be happy to sell you a report. Try to buy one even if "prototype" is the only word on it.

I would also photograph every part of this car before you work on it as part of its documentation.

    Re: barn find

I am going out on a limb here, but one would speculate that a Report cannot be accurately issued as the car may have changed configurations numerous times while in FORD Motor Co. possession. hence the purpose of a Prototype vehicle. to test fit things that may or may not make it into production. I do know that if Craig Jackson were to own the car, It would suddenly have a Huge leap in Value................!:cigar:

    Ravenblack,

I would call Ford at 1-800-392-3673 and ask for a vehicle history report for the car.

    Re: barn find

I have found them to be really inaccurate with every contact I have ever had with them regarding Shelbys. even incorrectly identifying a Pastel Grey car as correctly being Yellow!

They are very accurate for information before the cars went to Shelby American. I got the complete detail of my 67 Fastback (GT500) (pre-shelby) with it's 390 when it left San Jose by rail for LA to go to Shelby American.

Since this car was built in Michigan by Ford I would think the information may be pretty accurate.

    Re: barn find

Mike, I have to dispute your findings on the accuracy of the FORD Vehicle History report. they have my 68 GT500 convertible as a 68 Mustang with a 390, the previously mentioned failure on a Color on a friends 69 Shelby and they could not uncover Crap on my 67 GT500!! But I have to point out to you that your car left San Jose with the 428 and Dual Quads (Not a 390 like they told you. (remember your FORD VIN has a "Q" not an "S" ) so who is handing out the knowlege over there??? And having spoken with others in the hobby about this report, it is well known that this service tends to be rather lame:grrr: . I guess it is like any other business. you have people that do their job efficiently and other times you encounter people who merely show up at their jobs.:thumbdown

I'm surprised that Kevin Marti would not assist you with the information he has on record. Maybe because the car is a prototype he might require a copy of the title in your name before he does so. Might want to call and ask him about it.

    Re: barn find

K.Marti handles the Shelby stuff differently. He has to check with the SAAC registrar, and, if the registar says it is NOT a Shelby, Mr Marti is NOT going to issue anything that can be twisted into some kind of story saying it is.

You are correct; it is a valid VIN, however, we do not run reports on the prototypes. Sorry we cannot assist you.
