hi there.....i have a mate who has a 1969 's' code 390 mach 1 and has located the 'Body Buck Tag' on the front left radiator support. I'd like to help him decode his car from this tag but i don't know much about them.....are there any particular sites i could visit for this info ? I realise this thread is not much to do with 'Shelby's but your help would really be appreciated.
    cheers :)

    oh yeah......it reads.....
    63c T 322
    3D AC TW PB
    ST VG SPD RM
    FDS RAC

    H-2

I would suggest buying Kevin Marti's book, By the Numbers. Make sure you read the acknowledgements.

I will take a shot at the ones I know and we can fill in the others as we go or when I grab my copy.

    63 C is a Mach 1

T is the paint code for Red

    322 is a rotation number

    AC is air conditioning

    PB is power brakes

    FDS is fold down seat

    TW tilt wheel

    VG visibilty group

    RM rocker moldings

    ST Stereo (AM 8 track)

    RAC racing mirrors

    SPD and 3 D ?

    H-2 Inspector stamping

    I looked here: http://www.ponysite.de/fmcog/to_alt/bbtd.htm

But Kevin's book will be more accurate.

My apologies, Kevin's book is called The Mustang and Cougar Tag book. You should buy both books.

    3D is an inspector stamp

    SPD is speed control
