Have finally begun to reassemble my 69 GT500 in earnest. Most of my original drivetrain, suspension, interior, etc, is restorable. Have finihed underbody work, rear diff is back in, front suspension is going on and was wondering if anyone knew of a good source for original style parking brake cables as opposed to the vinyl coated repro stuff. Also curious as to what type of shocks most restorers or owners used as opposed to trying to round up a set of old inefficient NOS hydro shocks. Thanks for any help.

Unless you are going to run the tar out of the car and vintage race the car or something, anything more the the original hydro shocks would be over kill. The original adjustable Gabriel shocks were actually pretty good and they rarely wore out. When they started to get a little soft you cranked it up to the next setting. The fronts were the same but were replaced when the bushing rubber started to crack. Original shocks are extremely hard to find. Don't THROW ORIGINAL SHOCKS AWAY. This goes for any year. If you don't want them sell them on Ebay and make some money . This goes for all year of Shelby Shocks. I guarantee someone will want them. 90% percent of the time they only need new front bushings. A lot of people replace them with Koni's which are over kill but good. The KYB gas shocks that people always replace the factory shocks with are completely different looking and are easily spotted under the hood they are however good shocks but I despise the look of them.
