Dick Smith passes away in Plane accident

    Dick Smith

    I read on a couple forum sites that Dick Smith, the owner of a Comp 427 Cobra for decades, died in a plane crash with his stepson
    in an area called Tehatchipi (spelling?)

    I have driven through there in the winter and even though it's S. California, it has very tricky winds, rain and snow so I won't be surprised if I hear it was weather related.

    I know he had gone on a tour of the US with his 427 Cobra and was looking forward to it, one of his last great adventures....

    I miss him as he was one of the real solid gentlemen in the sport

    I remember Dick bringing his Cobra to Calgary for our big All Ford Weekend many years ago . My condolences.

    Dick was a great guy and a humble guy. I have known Dick for many years as we lived fairly close to each other and shared same interests. God Speed to you and your son. TI
