Hi all, I'm a newby new to this forum. Looks pretty cool. I am the prowd owner of the first car that I ever bought. I bought it 37 years ago and it is 1967 GT 500. Question: I don't remember it having a door tag on the drivers door when I restored it roughly 30 years ago. To the best of my recollection, it only had the under hood left fender well ID tag. Some one questioned me on this and I am wondering if 67 GT 500's came with a door tags to. Again, did the 67 gt 500's come with a door tag along with the under hood tag? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve67
In general terms, No. But that being said, a few have been found under the carpet, and there was a few that did have tags but the # is very small (about 30 to 40, in mid production). I have only seen one 67 door tag, I believe it was car 2666. Mike
Agree with Mike's post - they were to have been removed at Shelby and thrown away. Every so often (only heard of a couple) the tag would end up in the car and have heard of owners who reattached them
I will check with my friend John, he may still have the tag. Unfortunately, he lost the car in his divorce. Mike
Thanks a lot guys. I thought so... This confirms my original thoughts on this. I really don't think that my car (#2960) ever had a door tag on it. If there was one under the carpet, I would have found it many years ago and I would have kept it for sure! Thanks again all, Steve67
Be it known, the even the Marti reports state that "this tag was removed at Shelby American". But, yep, some got away.
