Has anybody come up with a solution for dim dash lights in a 66. I can barely see my gauges anymore. Thanks Steve
Steve, If the bulbs are in good condition, you may have a bad connection or the headlight switch (rheostat) could be defective and may need to be replaced. Or take the dash out and look at the condition of the bulbs. As they get older, some of the filament gets deposited on the inside of the glass, sometimes to the point that the bulb takes on a silver-gray reflective appearance. This cuts down on light transmission making the gauges difficult to read. Solution: change all the bulbs. Chasing wiring issues can be a real pain (literally) as it is time consuming and you can find yourself in strange positions under the the dash. Good luck.
Steve, I am not sure if the 66's has a dim function (resistor) in the light switch. If it does, I suggest you check it out. Also, my 67 had the same problem and one of the reasons for the dim lights were the burnt small plastic (blue) covers that didn't let the shine from the bulbs through. /Bo
