I thought I'd share a snippet off the cover of Car & Driver's 1967 Yearbook which was graced with a early, Gold GT500. I noted something interesting on the front fender-- two emblems. Am I wrong in memory; I thought there was only one. Did early cars have two? Was it a planned facet still-born after publicity photos?

Just something to share on-topic with the group.

  2. Never heard or seen anything like that. Early cars have a lot of weird
stuff but there would be no reason for two of the same emblems (which is
what it looks like) across from each other. You have a good eye, nice
    oddity. Bob G SAAC

FWIW, To me, It looks like the car has rocker panel moldings, no rocker stripes, and the most forward badge of the two looks a tad wider and suspiciously about the same width as the GT badges used on 65-6 Mustangs... My scanned image is 300dpi vs. the 150dpi I sent everyone (not wanting to clog other dial-ups).

I guess I'll look closer at the Road tests performed by C&D on the '500 when I scan those in.

  4. The question is was the car a real Shelby, does the car even exist anymore?

  5. I dont know about the Gold, but I do know that there is a factory "yellow" 67-500 , very rare- only one made.

It could very well be yellow. After scanning in, my "automatic" contrast-brightness adjuster changed the car to yellow... I thought it perhaps in error and left the car with a golden hue. Through the rear window you can see the deluxe interior, roll-bar with hanging harnesses and SIPEA steering wheel. The gas cap is the correct early flat one as well.
