So I work at a car wash, and the other day a late 90's Camaro SS comes in. Not my taste, but still a car I can appreciate. Predictably enough, some late 20 year old guy hops out, tells me what service he wants, and I pull the Chevy onto the wash track. Well, he left out the fact that he had lowered the car two inches, so the undercarrige grinds on the track as I pull it on. As soon as I hear that, I stop the car, get out, and inform the gentleman that we cant wash his car. I tell him that I'll take his car into the parking lot, and he can go talk to a manager about getting a hand wash. Well at this point he decides to ask me if I can drive stick, if i could handle the power of a Camaro SS, blah blah blah. (I'm not saying that this guy was being too unreasonable, I know where he was coming from, but when you drive a Porche or two every day, the Camaros don't excite you as much) So this guy is all worried, and I just look him in the eye and say "Its ok sir, I own a Shelby." I almost felt bad for him, here he thought he had finally made it, impressing the kid just out of High School with his car, and he had to go and pick the kid with a Shelby. jim
I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We were in Leavenworth Washington, which is a big time tourist trap, on a crowded street corner. We were going over old times and happened to be standing near a 63 Split Window Vette. He pointed at the vette and said "Wow, isn't that beautiful" I said, not particularly loud and more as an after thought "It's hard to get excited about corvettes after you've owned a real Cobra." About six people who were gathered around the vette immediately turned and looked at me, one guy looking not too happy. We didn't stick around there very long.
