    My car was scheduled for build on 1 -11-68. The #'s on the block left below head 8-A 11 N. What does the letter N mean ? Also, is the build date stamped into the block on every engine that way ? Thanks.---S.

    Not sure what the N is for. As far as the way they were stamped in 68 I've seen;
    1. No stamping
    2. Partial VIN usually in the format of year/plant/sequential # ex: 8T12345
    3. Like yours
    I've got good support for yours as mine is almost identical except the N. Mine reads 8 A 13 for car scheduled to built 1/10/68, actual build 1/26/68 and as you know came from the same plant as yours.

    ps: Is your motor out? I've never been able to read one in the car, unless master cylinder is out.
