I am aware of the fact that the 4.6L block is aluminum. My comments were urging a larger displacement engine and that engine block must be aluminum. For me the 4.6 is neither large enough to be naturally aspirated nor strong enough for reliable, daily driver, high PSI supercharging.
Although the rods are the weak part of the new 4.6 you can still have alot of power. I have an 06 GT with 4.10 gears and a Roush supercharger (only 5 psi) and have run in the 12's on street tires. Thats faster than my 67. When I drive it around town it runs great and still gets 20mpg on mixed driving.
Get this issue of Mustang Monthly, a guy wrecked GT-H #13. He hit a Deer with the Left front corner. Hertz would not let him drop if off at the nearest Hertz dealer unless he paid an extra $1250.00 so he drove it back to them wrecked with the tire rubbing the strut.
Totally agree, Challenger is hot. I'd still like to have a GT 500, but I'm not going to pay 15K over list. I'll have to wait...
Your 2006 GT looks great - where did you get the stripes? Are they a kit or were they sprayed on? Bryan
