We race a Ford Granada at a local dirt track here where I live and they have a rule that you have to run a "stock" 2 barrel carb, any of you guys know of a high CFM Ford carb I can turn to? It has to be a motorcraft or autolite carb, can't be one of the Holleys they used, we really need to move more fuel to our Cleveland. Thats our car in the middle of the 3 wide, the Black #28! Thanks so any help y'all can give me!

I don't have a carb, but I like to see Fords on the dirt track I wish more people would do it.

Ford did make a big 2V carb. I remember seeing one, I think it was for a mid 60's 390, or maybe a 390 Truck. Depending on how sharp your tech guy is, there are big gains to be made with the regular Ford 2V. Years ago, we raced a 164 H.P. 260 in NHRA Super Stock eliminator. It was the first year they extended the classes down, I think it was 1972. The Chevrolets we were racing against ran what was then known as "leakers" they intentionally set up a controlled vacuum leak. (Usually a hollowed out PVC valve plug) this did get more air into the engine, but it barely ran at anything but full throttle. We countered by modifying the Ford Carb. If you're interested, I can elaborate.

Your correct on the motor and years for the carb we're hunting, at this time, one is being built for us by a guy that also drag races Ford small blocks http://www.moneymakerracing.com/ the carb we needed is a 1.33 that flows 415 CFM, he knows all the tricks to get it to work its best but still "look" stock  We should have it Tuesday, I can't wait to bolt it on and run it, last night in the heat race we drew a last place starting pill (a 76 eeerrrr)....Aaron passed 6 cars in 3 laps and then the drive shaft came out, 3 of us worked on the car at the track while the other 2 guys went back to the shop and made a new shaft, got the car running, started dead last (20th) and finished 3rd! man it was insane watching our 16 year old hot shoe go to the front. If you have any ideas to make power, please elaborate away!

    Thanks, James
