Need some ideas on how to get rid of front end squeaks in the 1969. I suspect the brand new (350 miles on them) upper control arms may be the culprit. Have had them greased twice. Problem is intermittent. First squeaked about 3 weeks ago - greased them again. All O.K. until last Saturday night and both sides squeak like mad. Any suggestions appreciated. Ron

Ron-Front sway bar bushings will squeek, too. Run the car up on some good ramps or a drive-on lift and get someone to bounce it up and down while you listen. I just replaced allt he bushings on my 69 with Neopream bushings. I then put around 500 miles on them and had them re tweaked and now no sounds coming from anywhere. WD works pretty good but doesn't last too long and I am not sure how good it is for the rubber over time. Good luck but I would check into the whole front end bush replacement. Pumping grease from the end fittings, usually doesn't work. We have seen, brand new ball joints, dry to the bone also. Pete is probably correct, I went through two sets of upper arms on my 1966 before I was satisfied. Replaced many other parts because I couldn't figure out the problem. Lee 66 # 869 69 # 2055

Re: Re: Front end squeaks When I put poly sway bar bushings in one, I drill a small hole through the bracket and through the bushing. Screw a small grease fitting into the hole and you can lubricate the sway bar bushings. Most of the squeeks from poly bushings can be lubricated away. I had a bad squeak that turned out to be the curved part of the sway bar rubbing on the frame. My car has lowered a-arms and global west uppers. The frame has a small notch from the factory but the alignment changed with the lowering. I just extended the notch to the rear to clear.
