Well I thought it's about time I joined the group. I'm on a few of the other forums (ok, a lot of the other forums, lol) , and although I told myself NO MORE, I just had to join up here and see what the fuss is all about. Truthfully I wish I could be part of every Ford and other car forum out there but there's just too many and not enough time to keep up with everything and everyone. A few things about myself; I've had many cars, Fords and others, classics and newer, domestic and import, muscle cars, wheelers, etc. I've work in the repair and fab industry all of my life, and have had numerous jobs in the auto field over the years. Nowadays I do my fair share of Mustang restos as both a hobby and profession, and usually have a new personal project every year. I'm in my mid 30's now and my latest life endeavor on top of my current career as a tech, is I'm going back to school for Mechanical Engineering. Continued education is extremely important to me and I'll probably be in some sort of college course until the day I die. I'm addicted to knowledge and cars and I don't need intervention (that may very well become my signature on here...lol) On to the fun stuff... This year's project is a '67 Fastback that I'm making onto a pro-touring GT500 clone. I plan to make the car as close to Shelby specs as possible but with a few upgrades. It's a 351 Windsor powered car now and if I had my way it would have a new 2012 Boss Modular 5.0 and a MII front like the one I am working on for one of our customers. If I get rich I'll let you all know if that happens. lol. Meanwhile I'm focusing on the car's body and paint, and then on to the fun suspension and chassis stuff, and then on to the interior. For some of you that may be backwards but it's just how things have unfolded and I'm not afraid to try a new process this time around. This car will probably end up with a stroker Windsor this year and if I get lucky I may supercharge it and/or add fuel injection with a 6-speed? We will see in the months to come. My last clone build was a mostly stock '69 Mach1 that came out pretty nice, and my last high-performance build was a '67 coupe with a n EFI 418 stroker which made around 610 Horsepower. I'd love to do a similar setup on this car, but as with anything I've learned a bit more and would do a few things different/better. The almighty dollar is the great dictator though and unfortunately controls the outcome every time. If we had an unlimited budget, OH THE THINGS WE WOULD ALL DO! lol. My previous Ford fun-toys include 2 Gen 2 Lightning trucks (2001 and 2004), a number of Mustang coupes and fastbacks including classics and Foxes, 2 Falcons (63 Futura and Sprint), a '62 Comet chop-top, 2 F1 trucks ('49 and '50). The list goes on with other makes and models (including imports) and I've had my fair share of Jeeps, other 4x's and wheelers, too. What can I say, I'm just addicted to cars. My kindergarten bus-driver said I was fascinated with anything that moved and man was she right. (just don't take me to a topless bar and no one will get hurt, those things move too! lol) ..and I'm a regular joker, no doubt about it. Well next I guess it's off to the forums to start posting pics of the '67 in progress if this is an ok place to do that, ....assuming it's ok to start a thread on a clone here? ...That's another thing I'm not here to cheapen things up with another low-budget clone. I hope this car turns out as nice as I have visioned, and it's coming along quite well so far. Any advice on where to start with my first thread post would be greatly appreciated. It's great to meet you all and I look forward to sharing more with you in the future! Brandon K.
Welcome Brandon. Sounds like you keep yourself pretty busy! You can start a thread in the 1965-1970 forum.
