Hello. I'm looking forward to learning all I can about the Shelby Mustang. I have a 2008 GT 500 Red Convertible. I have added the CDC Lightbar and wind screen. Ford Racing Exhaust, Engine Dress Up Kit, and interior dress up items. Im still unsure if I wand to ad the cold air kit or not. I need more info on that issue. I belong to Norther Utah Mustang Owners Association, and the Mustang Club Of America. My wife Lorrie and I went on the Mustangs Across America event and racked up 5300 miles on our 2007 Mustang GT. I traded that Mustanf for the 2008 Shelby. I retired from the Weber County Sheriff's Office after 35 years of service. Its nice to be FREE. Looking forward to visiting with all of you.
Welcome Wes and wife. A word of caution on the engine dress up items. If you changed out the fluid caps go back and inspect them very closely. Make sure that the new caps are NOT vented on the top. If they are get rid of them. Car wash water and rain water will go thru the heat exchanger vents on the hood and into your oil and power steering fluid containers. Three companies make the oil for the gt500. ford motorcraft which is made and bottled by conoco,,,,castrol and valvoline. Good luck with your new beast.
Thanks for the info on the fluid caps. I did check them when I received them They are the Shelby Snake caps without any vent holes. I do use Vallvoline Synthetic oil also. I appreciate your info. What do you think about the cold air kits. I get pretty good gas mileage over 25 mpg if I keep it under 70 mph. ???
wylie; Thanks for the info. I already have the K&N air filter installed along with the Ford Racing axle back LOUD exhausts. I don't know how much hp I gained but the car runs great with good mileage. Im not racing the car, and because its a convertible I can't take it on any tracks. I heard the cold air kit beside giving you more power would also increase mileage??. Thanks again for the info. shelby wes
