Hi to all. My name is Chris and I have Shelby Dakota #1086(red). I bought this truck in 1994 in Minot, ND. The original owner traded the truck on a Honda Passport to make room for children. It had about 17000 miles on it then and had burnt out 1 transmission before I got it. It burnt out another in the first couple of weeks that I had it, which the dealership replaced. It ran great for me until the end of 2002, when it needed a motor rebuild and I did not have the money to get it done. The truck is in need of major TLC now, as a rodent chewed wires in the engine compartment and the paint and stickers are faded and peeling. My front air dam and fog lights were damaged in an accident and are off the truck (fixable??). The wing was lost in a house fire, and a camper shell is on the truck now. A sad story but one I hope to have a happy ending for.

    Welcome Chris.

Are you still in Minot? I used to work in Bismarck in the early 90's. I remember seeing many Shelby Dakota's in North Dakota back then. Probably would not be too hard to find the parts you need.

I also think Steve Thornton had a NOS light bar (wing). Anyway, the search for parts is nearly as much fun as the restoration. But the ultimate is finishing the project so that you can enjoy driving it.

Good Luck and Welcome to the ShelbyForums.
